The Crab and the Brook

Bach (whose name means “brook”) supposedly said of his student Johann Ludwig Krebs (whose name means “crab”) that he was the best crab in the brook. In this piece, the pizzicato figures scuttle along quickly, with their highest notes outlining the BACH motive.
